Annual Debt Collectors License Report Submission & Fingerprinting Requirements

Annual Report Due by March 15, 2024

The Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (“DFPI”) mandates that all debt collectors provisionally licensed before January 1, 2024, submit their Annual Report by March 15, 2024, covering the year 2023. Submission of the report is essential for maintaining compliance and your license status. You can submit your Annual Report through your Company’s DFPI portal. The window for report submission is from January 1, 2024, through midnight, March 15, 2024. All licensees are reminded to please check your designated e-mail address associated with your DFPI account for important updates.

Fingerprinting and Background Checks

Starting March 1, 2024, the DFPI will implement its fingerprinting process for existing licensees with conditional approval. The functionality for this requirement will be available in NMLS from March 1, 2024, with official license items being added to each Company NMLS account beginning April 1, 2024. All designated parties must complete the fingerprinting within 90 days of the license issuance. Failure to comply may result in the revocation of a conditional license.
