We all know that Labor Day is the first Monday in September.  It brings to mind a long weekend of picnics and cookouts, the start of the fall season and perhaps the anticipation of Football season.  But Labor Day is also a very important day in American History.  According to U.S. Department of Labor “History of Labor Day” , Oregon was the first state in the U.S. to make Labor Day and official public holiday.  Today, it is a federal holiday in all of the United States to honor and recognize the American labor movement.
